Job summary

Teach Plus are working with a welcoming primary school in Newham that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant from January 2027 or sooner for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or a candidate with a relevant childcare qualification who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs.

Qualifications

• A graduate background or relevant childcare qualification is preferred.
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable.
• Understanding of additional learning needs and inclusive education.
• Patient, calm and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to support targeted interventions under the guidance of teaching staff.
• Available to start in January or sooner.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to pupils with special educational needs
• Assist with targeted learning activities and interventions
• Support pupils individually and in small groups where required
• Adapt activities and resources to meet pupils' needs
• Encourage communication, independence and positive social interaction
• Support positive behaviour and engagement with learning
• Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom
• Monitor pupils' engagement and contribute to their ongoing development
