Job summary

Randstad Education in Lifton is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with SEMH, ASD and other complex needs within a welcoming school environment. You will deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support to help learners re-engage with their learning and build confidence.

The role offers flexible day-to-day hours during term-time, with a calm, patient approach and restorative practices to de-escalate behaviour, promote inclusion and emotional regulation in classroom settings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH/ASD/ADHD or complex needs.
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
• High emotional intelligence and the ability to build rapport with vulnerable learners.
• Adaptability to step into different classroom settings on a day-to-day basis.
• Passion for making a positive impact on young people’s lives.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support to re-engage students.
• De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative approaches.
• Help students develop confidence, emotional regulation and social skills.
• Adapt learning materials to EHCP targets and sensory needs.
• Foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
