Job summary

Randstad Education in Okehampton is seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH and ASD/ADHD. You will de-escalate challenging behaviours using restorative approaches and help learners build confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.

The role is day-to-day and flexible, with term-time hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, offering a supportive school environment and opportunities to make a positive impact on young people’s lives.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, ASD, or complex needs.
• Strong behaviour management with a calm, patient, non-judgemental approach.
• High emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport with vulnerable learners.
• Adaptability to step into different classroom settings day-to-day.
• Genuine passion for making a positive impact on young people's lives.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support to re-engage students with learning.
• De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative, trauma-informed practices.
• Help students build confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.
• Adapt learning materials to EHCP targets and sensory needs.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
