Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking SEN Teaching Assistants for flexible day-to-day roles in Okehampton. You will support students with SEMH/ASD, delivering 1:1 and small group assistance to re-engage learning within a supportive school environment.

Responsibilities include managing behaviour with restorative approaches, helping with emotional regulation and social skills, and adapting materials to meet EHCP targets and sensory needs. A calm, patient, and inclusive mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, ASD, or complex needs.
• Strong behaviour management with a calm, patient, non-judgemental approach.
• High emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport with vulnerable learners.
• Adaptability to work in different classroom settings on a day-to-day basis.
• Genuine passion for making a positive impact on young people's lives.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support to re-engage students with learning.
• De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative, trauma-informed practices.
• Help students build confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.
• Adapt learning materials to suit EHCP targets and sensory needs.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
