Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with SEMH/ASD in Okehampton. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, de-escalate behaviours using trauma-informed methods, and help learners build confidence and social skills.

The role offers a flexible day-to-day contract, with a typical day from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, term-time, in a supportive school environment. Experience with EHCP targets is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH, ADHD, ASD, or complex needs.
• Strong behaviour management and a calm, patient approach.
• High emotional intelligence and the ability to build rapport with vulnerable learners.
• Able to adapt to different classroom settings day-to-day.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support to re-engage students with their learning.
• De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative, trauma-informed practices.
• Help students build confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.
• Adapt learning materials to suit individual EHCP targets and sensory needs.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
