Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and ASD. Flexible day-to-day roles in our Okehampton school, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM, term-time, with dedicated 1:1 and small-group support.

Candidates should have experience with SEMH/ADHD/ASD, strong behaviour management, and the ability to adapt materials to EHCP targets. A compassionate, patient approach is essential to help learners build confidence and social skills.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, ASD, or complex needs.
• Strong behaviour management with a calm, patient, non-judgemental approach.
• High emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport with vulnerable learners.
• Adaptable to different classroom settings on day-to-day basis.
• Passion for making a positive impact on young people's lives.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support to re-engage learning.
• De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative, trauma-informed practices.
• Help students build confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.
• Adapt learning materials to EHCP targets and sensory needs.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, encouraging classroom environment.
