Job summary

South Ascot Village School in England is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to join our SEN Unit, supporting autistic children and pupils with complex needs. You will work alongside teachers and specialists to enable access to learning and develop independence.

Qualifications

• Enjoys working with children and is passionate about helping them succeed.
• Experience working with children in a school or similar environment.
• Patient, nurturing and able to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
• Willing to learn and develop specialist knowledge of autism and SEND.
• Can remain calm, positive and resilient when supporting children with additional needs.
• Committed to inclusion and ensuring every child receives support to flourish.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs within our specialist provision.
• Assisting with learning activities and adapting resources to help children access the curriculum.
• Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
• Supervising pupils during lunchtime and breaktimes to ensure a safe environment.
• Providing personal care and medical support where required, with training and guidance.
