Job summary

Fitzwaryn School in Wantage seeks caring, motivated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs in a therapeutic environment. The role offers development opportunities and a supportive team culture.

Two satellite provisions will expand capacity, with flexible working options including part-time or job share. Training and LGPS are provided along with wellbeing support and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
• Experience supporting children or young people (school, care, youth work etc.).
• Experience with EHCPs or additional needs (desirable).
• Calm, patient, motivated and a strong team player.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SLD, PMLD and ASD in the classroom and across school.
• Assist with learning activities, therapy programmes and IEP targets.
• Support enrichment activities (swimming, PE, community visits, horse riding).
• Provide personal and intimate care when needed.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and independence.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families and therapists.

The development of Fitzwaryns' satellite provision at St John's School marks an exciting new chapter for us. Two purpose-built centres, located within a mainstream setting just four minutes from the main site, will expand capacity and enable up to 40 additional pupils to benefit from the school's outstanding provision.

About the Role

1. Working pattern: 8:45-15:15 Monday-Friday, including a 30 minutes unpaid lunchbreak. We support flexible working and will consider part-time hours, as long as availability includes the beginning and/and end of each working day, which are essential for this role.
