Job summary

Kingfisher School in Abingdon is seeking a caring, motivated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs across a range of activities. You will work alongside teachers to deliver personalised learning and help pupils develop confidence and life skills.

The role offers flexible working options, full induction, CPD including SEN training, wellbeing days, on-site parking, LGPS, cycle-to-work scheme, and a supportive school culture within The Propeller Academy Trust.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children/young people in an educational setting.
• Caring, patient and sensitive with a passion for supporting SEND learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated learning and care support to pupils with a wide range of SEN.
• Work with teachers to deliver personalised learning and development programmes.
• Support pupils with learning, communication, emotional regulation, routines and transitions.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and life skills.
• Provide individual and small-group support to keep pupils engaged and achieve personal goals.
• Support pupils with personal care, feeding and medical needs as required.
• Engage pupils in activities including PE, swimming, outings and community-based activities.
• Use communication methods including signing to meet pupils' needs.
• Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing per individual plans.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

About the Role

2. Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised learning and development programmes
3. Support pupils with their learning, communication, emotional regulation, routines and transitions
4. Help pupils develop confidence, independence and essential life skills
5. Provide individual and small-group support, helping pupils stay engaged and achieve their personal goals
6. Support pupils with personal care, feeding and medical needs where required and following appropriate training
7. Work with pupils across a range of activities, including PE, swimming, outings and community-based activities
8. Use appropriate communication systems, including signing, to meet individual pupils' needs
9. Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing, following individual behaviour plans and school policies
10. Build positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and other professionals to provide consistent, holistic support

About You

1. Experience working with children/young people, ideally in a school or educational setting
2. Caring, patient and sensitive, with a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
3. Excellent communication, listening and relationship-building skills
4. Able to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
5. Organised and able to work effectively as part of a team
6. Committed to promoting independence, inclusion and the wellbeing of every pupil
7. Resilient, enthusiastic and motivated to make a real difference
8. GCSEs or equivalent, including Grade 4+ in English and Maths
9. First Aid qualification desirable, or willingness to complete training
