Job summary

Prospero Teaching is working with a large SEN provision in Stockport to recruit an experienced SEN teaching assistant to join their team.

The school supports pupils aged between 4 and 19 with complex needs. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, create engaging learning resources and maintain communications with SLT and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting complex needs in a school or residential setting is essential.
• Team Teach training is highly desirable.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training within the last year is preferred (training can be provided).

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, providing emotional and academic support.
• Maintain regular communication with SLT and third-party agencies to monitor progress and development.
• Support the class teacher, creating engaging learning resources.

Position - SEN Teaching Assistant

Location - Stockport (SK8)

Pay - £99-£110 per day, depending on experience

Start Date - 12/10/2026

Hours - 8:30am-3:30pm

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, providing emotional and academic support
• Maintain regular communication with SLT and third-party agencies to monitor progress and development
• Support the class teacher, creating engaging learning resources

What we require:

• Previous experience supporting complex needs, in a school or residential setting is essential for this position
• A genuine passion for supporting complex needs
• Team Teach training is highly desired
• Up to date Safeguarding in the last year (desired but training can be provided)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
