Job summary

Oasis Academy Mayfield in Southampton is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support planning, delivery and assessment of lessons, with a focus on pastoral care. You will work closely with teachers to ensure all students' learning needs are met and progress is tracked.

The role offers term-time working within a supportive team, with professional development opportunities and a defined benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 GCSEs at C grade or above including English and Maths.
• Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.
• Experience supervising classes and assisting with lesson provision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Commitment to high behavioural standards and inclusive practice.

Job description

Job overview

You'll be responsible for assisting with planning, preparation and delivery of lesson provision, both on a whole-class and individual basis, preparing resources to support learning activities as well as ensuring pupils are supported pastorally. You'll contribute to evaluating student progress and provide feedback to the class teacher to ensure all students' learning needs are being met.

Job requirements

• A minimum of 3 GCSEs at C grade or above, including English and Maths


• Teaching Assistant qualification desirable


• Experience of class supervision and assisting with lesson provision to achieve positive learning outcomes


• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in tandem with teaching staff


• Ability to be empathetic and understanding to the needs of students


• Ability to build good relationships with children and adults


• High expectation of behaviour and ability to challenge without confrontation


• Understanding of student personal as well as academic needs and to treat with respect


• Able to empower children to access all areas of the curriculum and to achieve their maximum potential
