Job summary

Oasis Academy Mayfield in Southampton is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support teaching staff and learners. You will assist with planning, preparation and delivery of lessons, prepare resources and provide pastoral support to pupils.

You will contribute to monitoring progress and give feedback to the class teacher to ensure all students' needs are met. The role is full-time during term-time with competitive benefits and opportunities for development.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (C grade or above) including English and Maths.
  • Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.
  • Experience of class supervision and assisting with lesson provision to achieve positive learning outcomes.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in tandem with teaching staff.
  • Ability to be empathetic and understanding to the needs of students.
  • Ability to build good relationships with children and adults.
  • High expectation of behaviour and ability to challenge without confrontation.
  • Understanding of student personal and academic needs and to treat with respect.
  • Able to empower children to access all areas of the curriculum and to achieve their maximum potential.

Job description

Oasis Academy Mayfield currently have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated practitioner to join the team as a SEN Teaching Assistant, supporting teaching staff with responsibility for the development and educational provision of learners. You’ll be responsible for assisting with planning, preparation and delivery of lesson provision, both on a whole-class and individual basis, preparing resources to support learning activities as well as ensuring pupils are supported pastorally. You’ll contribute to evaluating student progress and provide feedback to the class teacher to ensure all students’ learning needs are being met.

  • A minimum of 3 GCSEs at C grade or above, including English and Maths
  • Teaching Assistant qualification desirable
  • Experience of class supervision and assisting with lesson provision to achieve positive learning outcomes
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in tandem with teaching staff
