GSL Education in Sheffield is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping with emotional regulation and engagement in lessons.

The role is long-term in a welcoming secondary school, starting immediately. Applicants should have experience with children, resilience, strong communication, and a calm, patient approach; DBS checks and references required.

  • Support students during transitions and less structured parts of the school day.
  • Share relevant observations and feedback with teaching and pastoral staff.

Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: Immediately

Are you patient, empathetic and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with their social, emotional and mental health needs.

About the Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-to-one and small-group support to students who may need additional help with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in learning. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will help students manage challenges, build confidence and take positive steps towards their education.

You will play an important role throughout the school day, supporting students both in lessons and during less structured periods while helping maintain a calm and supportive environment.

To work with GSL Education as an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you should:
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
