Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
PK Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Sheffield. You will support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, helping them manage emotions, behaviour and engagement with learning, while building trusting relationships in a calm, safe classroom environment.
The role emphasises patience, consistency and resilience; prior SEMH experience is beneficial but not essential as full safeguarding and training will be provided.
Make a difference where it really matters.
Location: Sheffield
Role: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-time
Start: ASAP
Recruiter: PK Education
PK Education is looking for a calm, resilient and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Sheffield supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is much more than simply supporting pupils with their schoolwork.
You’ll be helping young people who may have found education difficult in the past to feel safe, build trust, regulate their emotions and re-engage with learning.
The school takes a highly personalised, relationship-led approach, with staff working hard to understand the individual needs and barriers of every pupil. Strong relationships, consistency and compassion are at the heart of the provision.
We’d love to hear from experienced Teaching Assistants, SEND/SEMH Support Workers, Learning Mentors and Behaviour Support Assistants.
However, experience doesn't always have to come from a classroom.
If you have worked in youth work, care, residential settings, sports coaching, mentoring or other roles supporting young people, we'd still like to hear from you.
The most important things are your ability to be: Patient. Consistent. Resilient. Positive.
You need to understand that behaviour is often a form of communication and be prepared to remain calm and supportive when a young person is having a difficult day.
At PK Education, we believe recruitment should be simple, transparent and built on understanding and respect.
We take the time to get to know our candidates so we can match you with opportunities that genuinely suit your experience, personality and career goals.
If you think you could make a positive difference to young people with SEMH needs, we want to hear from you.
PK Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to appropriate safeguarding, compliance and vetting checks
