Job summary

A leading education provider in Tees Valley is seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students reach their full potential in a nurturing environment. Ideal candidates are passionate about child development and possess strong communication skills. This full-time position offers ongoing training in a supportive setting.

Overview

Are you passionate about supporting children’s development and making a positive impact on their lives? We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a well-established setting, working with children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a highly supportive team of teachers and support staff who are committed to making a difference in the lives of these learners. You’ll have the chance to help children reach their full potential, both academically and personally, within a nurturing and positive environment.

Responsibilities

Main Duties:

  • Work closely with teachers to support pupils’ learning and social development.
  • Provide emotional, physical, and social support to students, promoting their well-being.
  • Prepare and maintain classroom resources to meet the needs of pupils.
  • Support the delivery of individual and group interventions aimed at improving behaviour and learning outcomes.
  • Supervise and support pupils during project and sporting activities.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A positive, enthusiastic, and patient individual with a passion for working with children.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both students and staff.
  • A willingness to learn and develop your skills in a SEMH setting.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A DBS check (enhanced) on the Child & Adult Workforce, or a willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
