Job summary

Smile Education in Telford is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with highly complex needs in a welcoming primary school setting.

You will provide 1:1 support, help with classroom activities, and work with teachers and staff to foster confidence, resilience and inclusion. The role offers flexible placements, with potential for permanent opportunities and DBS support.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience supporting children with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable).
  • Experience supporting children with complex needs.
  • Previous experience delivering medical care is advantageous but not essential.
  • Confidence working independently whilst also being an effective member of a wider classroom team.
  • A patient, caring and flexible approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with highly complex additional needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping to create a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Assisting pupils with varying abilities and learning needs, including those requiring additional support
  • Helping to prepare classroom resources and learning activities to enhance pupil engagement
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and other school staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
  • Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development, helping them to build confidence and reach their full potential
  • Assisting with playground duties, school activities, and other responsibilities as required by the school

Are you a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant who is experienced working very closely with SEN children in the Telford area looking for a flexible role within a supportive SEN school environment?

We are seeking an patient and reliable Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development across welcoming and well-established primary schools.
