Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant for a secondary school in Durham. You will support students with a range of special educational needs, assisting with academic and emotional development within a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

EN Teaching Assistant (Secondary School) – Durham

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Durham. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students while gaining valuable experience within a school setting.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support students with a range of special educational needs. You will help remove barriers to learning, encourage positive engagement, and support students both academically and emotionally throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Assist students in managing their emotions and behaviours, promoting a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
  • Work alongside teachers to adapt learning activities and provide targeted classroom support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
