Job summary

Educo Recruitment is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with SEND across Hemel Hempstead and Hertfordshire. The role involves 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access learning and participate in activities, while working with teachers to tailor assistance.

We welcome graduates, youth workers, mentors or those looking to start a career in education who are caring, patient and proactive with strong communication skills. DBS update service is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND or additional needs is essential.
  • Previous SEN TA experience is desirable but not essential.
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils with autism, communication needs, learning needs and social or emotional challenges.
  • Work with teachers to deliver personalised support and adapt activities.
  • Help pupils access learning activities and engage with the curriculum.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
  • Support social, emotional and academic development of pupils.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive school environment.

We are recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming and inclusive schools throughout Hemel Hempstead and Hertfordshire.

We are looking for caring and committed individuals who want to make a positive impact by supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally. Whether you are an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Special Needs Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, graduate, youth worker, mentor, or someone looking to start a career in education, we would love to hear from you.

The Role:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
  • Supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, learning needs, and social or emotional challenges
  • Working alongside teachers and support staff to deliver personalised support
  • Helping pupils access learning activities and engage with the curriculum
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
  • Supporting pupils' social, emotional and academic development
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment
We're Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND or additional needs is essential
  • Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant is desirable but not essential
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Reliability, professionalism and a commitment to supporting pupil progress
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
