URGENTLY REQUIRED - SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT

Full-Time | Year 1 | Hebden Bridge Primary School

A welcoming primary school in Hebden Bridge is urgently seeking a caring, experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a new pupil joining the school.

The successful candidate will provide individualised support to a Year 1 pupil with Down syndrome, who requires additional support with his learning and access to the school environment.

The Role
  • Provide individualised support with learning and classroom activities.
  • Help the pupil access the curriculum at an appropriate level.
  • Support the pupil's communication, confidence and independence.
  • Encourage positive engagement in learning and classroom routines.
  • Provide support with movement around the school where required.
  • Help the pupil navigate different areas of the school safely.
  • Build a positive, trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil.
  • Work as part of a wider team to support his individual needs and development.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN/additional needs.
  • Experience supporting a child with Down syndrome would be highly desirable.
  • A patient, caring and nurturing approach.
  • Confidence supporting children with learning and developmental needs.
  • Ability to build a strong, positive relationship with the pupil.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with teaching staff.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.Experience can be professional or personal - we are happy to consider applicants who have supported a child with additional needs through their own personal experience, provided they can demonstrate the relevant skills and understanding.
