Job summary

NextGen Teachers is seeking a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant for a Leeds based role supporting students aged 11–17 with Autism, ADHD and Down syndrome in a small-class setting. The role is full-time, term-time only with a temp-to-perm pathway.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to deliver inclusive activities, monitor progress and uphold safeguarding standards in a supportive, specialist environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with secondary ages is essential.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Calm, patient and positive approach to learners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students aged 11–17 with SEN.
  • Support students with learning, communication, emotional wellbeing and independence.
  • Work with teachers to deliver differentiated and inclusive activities.
  • Support positive behaviour and help students manage challenges.
  • Build positive relationships and encourage engagement in learning.
  • Monitor progress and maintain safeguarding procedures.

Salary: GBP19500 - GBP21500 per annum

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Leeds Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only – Temp to Perm Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm Age Group: 11-17 years Start Date: September Salary: £19500 – £21500 per annum (depending on experience)

We’re on the lookout for outstanding Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting students in a supportive, specialist setting. You’ll be supporting 11–17-year-olds with Autism, ADHD and Down Syndrome to build confidence and develop key skills. With small classes of just 7–10 pupils, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference every day!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students aged 11–17 with SEN, including Autism, ADHD and Down syndrome.
  • Support students with learning, communication, emotional wellbeing and independence.
  • Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to deliver differentiated and inclusive learning activities.
  • Support positive behaviour and help students manage emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage engagement in learning.
  • Monitor progress, maintain records and follow safeguarding procedures.
