Job summary

Monarch Education in Erdington is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils aged 4–16 with diverse needs. You will work 32.5 hours weekly (8:30am–3:30pm) in a supportive school environment, following individual plans and collaborating with teachers and therapists.

The role requires experience in SEN or relevant care/education settings, with Level 2/3 TA qualifications desirable. UK-based candidates only, with DBS and references.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support in and out of the classroom.
  • Follow personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
  • Support pupils with additional learning, communication and sensory needs.
  • Use visual timetables and structured routines; assist with personal care if required.
  • Support positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to aid progress.
  • Create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction.

  • Moderate learning difficulties (MLD)

  • Global developmental delay

We are now seeking dedicated, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team. This is an ideal role for someone passionate about helping children overcome barriers and achieve small but meaningful progress every day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with additional learning, communication and sensory needs
  • Follow personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
  • Provide 1:1 or small‑group support in and out of the classroom

  • Assist with personal care where required (training provided)
  • Support positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists

  • Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or in a care/education setting (essential)
  • Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • A calm, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work proactively
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of SEN strategies, sensory needs or communication approaches such as PECs or Makaton (desirable)
