Clarence Recruitment is actively recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for a Coventry school with an Outstanding Ofsted rating. You will work with students who have learning difficulties, providing accessible and engaging support in KS3–KS4.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English are required.
  • Enhanced DBS check is required.
  • Experience with children with learning difficulties (KS3–KS4) is preferred.
  • Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable.
  • Specialist SEN training is advantageous.
  • Patience, empathy and good communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other additional needs, ensuring lessons are accessible and engaging.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, build confidence, and encourage positive behaviour through reinforcement strategies.
  • Provide support during activities such as PE, meals, or breaks, ensuring students can participate safely and comfortably.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support teachers in managing the classroom, preparing resources, and creating an inclusive learning environment.

We are looking for a motivated and empathetic individual who can fill our SEN Teaching Assistant role and to contribute to a thriving community we have built at our Coventry school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other additional needs, ensuring lessons are accessible and engaging.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, build confidence, and encourage positive behaviour through reinforcement strategies.
  • Provide support during activities such as PE, meals, or breaks, ensuring students can participate safely and comfortably.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support teachers in managing the classroom, preparing resources, and creating an inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • GCSE Maths and English.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Relevant experience with children with learning difficulties (KS3 - KS4)
  • Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Specialist SEN training.
  • Patience and empathy with good communication skills.
  • BSL or Makaton is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and inclusive teaching methods to make lessons accessible.
  • Can work in a team and independently.
