Job summary

Monarch Education are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Cannock. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting pupils with SEMH needs, communication difficulties and behavioural challenges, on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

You will help learners access learning, build confidence and social skills, and contribute to an inclusive, nurturing classroom. Rate of pay is £100–£130 per day; start ASAP or September.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEND or transferable skills.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• Proactive, flexible and resilient attitude.
• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide support on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to help pupils access learning.
• Help pupils develop confidence and social skills, and achieve positive academic and emotional outcomes.
• Support pupils with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges in a nurturing environment.
• Contribute to an inclusive, safe, and child-centred classroom setting.

Location: Cannock
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Rate of Pay: £100 – £130 per day

Monarch Education are working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in Cannock to recruit an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity within a nurturing and supportive setting, working with pupils who have a range of additional needs, mainly focused on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties, and associated behavioural challenges.

The successful candidate will provide support on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, improve social skills, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and emotionally.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND or relevant transferable skills

• Strong behaviour management skills and confidence supporting challenging behaviour

• A patient, calm, and nurturing approach

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team

• A proactive, flexible, and resilient attitude

• A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)

• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
