Job summary

Monarch Education is seeking a Teaching Assistant/HLTA in Walsall to support primary pupils with Special Educational Needs. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, helping pupils engage with learning, build confidence and develop personal skills. This hands-on role involves managing challenging behaviours calmly and proactively.

The position is full-time, temporary to permanent, with pay based on experience and opportunities for CPD and progression within Monarch Education.

• Experience in SEND or behaviour-focused settings.
• Ability to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely.
• Resilient, proactive and hands-on approach to supporting young people.

About the role

You will be helping primary pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs to thrive both in the classroom and as individuals. Working closely with students every day, you will support their learning, build their confidence and support with their personal development. This is a hands-on role and many key aspect which include managing and responding to challenging behaviours in a calm, confident and proactive manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience working within Primary pupils 1:1
• Strong behaviour management skills and confidence in handling challenging situations.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to supporting learning and development.
• De-escalate situations effectively and implement behaviour strategies that promote positive outcomes.
• The ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils and staff.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working in a SEND or behaviour-focused setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills with the confidence to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
• A resilient, proactive and hands-on approach to supporting young people.
• Confidence working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils displaying challenging behaviour.
