Job summary

Aspire People Limited is seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools and specialist settings in Leicester and surrounding areas. Roles include day-to-day, short-term, long-term and part-time placements, offering flexible opportunities to fit your schedule and professional goals.

You will support pupils with SEN, collaborate with teachers and SENCOs, adapt activities, and help learners access the curriculum in inclusive environments.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in school, childcare or similar setting.
  • Patience, empathy and a nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible to work across day-to-day, short-term, long-term and part-time placements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Assist pupils in accessing learning activities and achieving targets.
  • Support social, emotional and academic development of pupils.
  • Work with teachers, SENCOs and support staff.
  • Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs.
  • Promote a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other needs.

The Role
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Assist pupils in accessing learning activities and achieving their individual targets
  • Support the social, emotional, and academic development of pupils
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
  • Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual needs
  • Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Requirements
  • Have previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs within a school, childcare, or similar setting
  • Be confident supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be adaptable, proactive, and reliable
  • Be available to work school hours of 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
