Job summary

Aspire People is seeking an SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEND school in Peterborough. You will plan and deliver differentiated lessons for pupils aged 4-19 with severe learning difficulties, autism and complex needs.

A background in SEN or specialist education is preferred, with ability to adapt learning and build positive relationships with pupils, families and professionals. Flexible supply opportunities, short-term and long-term roles, and dedicated consultant support are offered to help

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching pupils with SEND or genuine interest in specialist education.
• Understanding of autism, severe learning difficulties and complex additional needs.
• Ability to confidently differentiate teaching to meet individual abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons for pupils with severe and complex learning needs.
• Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate a wide range of cognitive, communication, sensory and physical needs.
• Use practical, sensory and experiential learning to engage pupils and promote progress.
• Support pupils in achieving their individual targets and EHCP outcomes.
• Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
• Implement effective behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, families and external professionals.
• Promote independence, communication, social development and essential life skills.
• Monitor and celebrate individual achievements, recognising that progress looks different for every learner.
