Job summary

Northwich School, part of the Polaris Community, is seeking an SEN Class Teacher to deliver high-quality lessons within the national curriculum, meeting the complex SEMH needs of pupils aged 5 to 16.

You will plan and assess, support the team, manage behaviour, and supervise pupils during non-classroom time. A relevant qualification and DBS checks are required, with a commitment to professional development and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Hold qualified teacher status (QTS).
• Have a strong basic education to degree level.
• Previous successful teaching experience.
• Some experience of working with pupils with SEMH.
• Experience of behaviour management and DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high quality lessons within the national curriculum for pupils with SEMH.
• Support the class team in facilitating learning and promoting positive behaviours.
• Report on pupils' progress and liaise with staff to meet needs.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time including trips.
• Build positive relationships to drive learning outcomes.

Role responsibilities

• Responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality lessons within the national curriculum whilst meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils.
• Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
• Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
• Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

• Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)
• Have a strong basic education to degree level
• Previous successful teaching experience
• Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
• Experience of behaviour management and techniques
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn
• Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
