Job summary

Polaris Education in Burnley, Lancashire seeks an SEN Class Teacher to join our Burnley School. Plan and deliver lessons within the national curriculum, addressing SEMH needs while supporting the class team and promoting positive behaviours.

The role requires QTS, experience with SEMH pupils, and a commitment to professional development. You will contribute to pupil progress reporting and participate in school activities.

Qualifications

  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS).
  • Strong basic education to degree level.
  • Previous successful teaching experience.
  • Experience with SEMH pupils in educational settings.
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques.
  • Willing to undergo Enhanced DBS check prior to starting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons within the national curriculum while meeting SEMH needs.
  • Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
  • Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom times, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and drive positive learning outcomes.

Role responsibilities
  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality lessons within the national curriculum whilst meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils.
  • Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
  • Reporting on pupils’ progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
  • Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
  • Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Have a strong basic education to degree level
  • Previous successful teaching experience
  • Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn
  • Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
