Job description

Primary School SEND Hub Teaching Assistant - Leominster

Are you passionate about supporting individual student's learning journeys?
Do you have experience working with children in a 1:1 setting? Or in a HUB?

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join Aspire People to work in a school in Herefordshire working in their SEND Hub with a range of needs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individualized support and assistance to a specific student in a SEND Hub.
  2. Collaborate with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver tailored lessons and activities to meet the student's unique needs.
  3. Support the student's academic, social, and emotional development, promoting their self-confidence and independence.
  4. Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where the student can thrive.
  5. Adapt teaching strategies and resources to accommodate the student's learning style and abilities.
  6. Assist with the assessment of the student's progress and provide feedback to the classroom teacher and parents.
  7. Foster positive relationships with the student and establish clear communication channels with the school and parents.
  8. Uphold the school's values, policies, and procedures.

Requirements:
  1. Level 2/3 Support Teaching or Learning (or ratio equivalent).
  2. Previous experience working with children in a 1:1 capacity or in a HUB setting, preferably in an educational setting.
  3. Strong empathy and understanding of individual student needs.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with the student, staff, and parents.
  5. Patience, resilience, and the ability to provide emotional support when needed.
  6. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the student and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  7. Knowledge of relevant teaching methodologies and resources for supporting individual students.
  8. Relevant qualifications in education or teaching assistant role are desirable but not essential.
