Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking confident SEN Support Assistants for a specialist school in Bradford. You will support pupils with complex needs across EYFS to Year 6, delivering personal care, emotional regulation support, and structured routines to keep pupils engaged and safe.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of PECS/Makaton and experience with ASD/ADHD/SEMH. A Level 2/3 TA qualification is preferred. DBS and safeguarding checks apply and you must have the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or other communication systems.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or physical needs.
• TA Level 2/3 qualification or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 and group support for pupils with complex learning, sensory, physical, or communication needs
• Provide personal care confidently and sensitively (toileting, changing, hygiene routines)
• Support pupils who may be non-verbal, using visual aids, communication tools, or alternative communication methods
• Work across EYFS-Y6, adapting your approach to suit different developmental stages
• Follow personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies set by teachers and the SENCO
• Create a calm, structured environment that promotes safety, independence, and positive behaviour
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who rely on consistency and reassurance
