Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is partnering with a cluster of schools in Harrogate and North Yorkshire to recruit experienced complex needs assistants for ages 4 to 19. You will join their SEN teams to support learners with a range of learning, physical, medical, communication and sensory needs in an inclusive, nurturing environment.

The role requires confident, dedicated staff who can work across age groups, manage challenging behaviours, assist with personal care, and help learners regulate

Qualifications

• Experience supporting complex physical, medical and learning needs.
• Knowledge of Autism, Asperger's, Down syndrome and related needs.
• Willingness to assist with personal care and changing requirements.
• Ability to engage learners with interactive play and sensory sessions.
• Strong SEN knowledge and the ability to support learners with varying needs.

Responsibilities

Complex Assistant - North Yorkshire

Veritas Education is working with a cluster of schools in in the Harrogate and North Yorkshire area, looking for experienced complex needs assistants to join their settings. The schools support children from 4 to 19 years old, with a range of learning, physical, medical, communication, sensory and complex needs. With fantastic facilities, an experienced staffing team and a school routine designed to meet the needs of all learners, these settings create an inclusive, nurturing and safe environment for their students.

The Role:

These settings are looking for confident, experienced and dedicated staff members to join their SEN Team, with the ability to work across all age groups, needs and requirements.

• Previous experience supporting complex physical, medical and learning needs is essential for this role.
• Experienced and knowledge around best practice in supporting Autism, Asperger's, Down Syndrome and other learning needs.
• Comfortable supporting personal care, hygiene and changing requirements, across all age groups (4 - 19 years old).
• Able to bring a positive, energetic and caring approach to all classes and learners within the school setting.
• Demonstrate strong SEN knowledge, and the ability to interact with different learners of varying needs and abilities, from interactive play, to sensory sessions, and across school activities.
• Show strong behaviour management skills, and help learners de-escalate when in crisis and teach regulation skills for learners to self-manage emotions.
