Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are looking for an experienced Learning Difficulties Specialist Teacher to join a small specialist school attached to a residential home in Northamptonshire. You will teach five secondary-aged pupils with severe learning difficulties, supported by a Teaching Assistant and HLTA.

The role focuses on sensory-based learning, communication and developing independence. You will plan and deliver personalised lessons, assess progress and work with families and professionals to

Qualifications

• Has QTS or equivalent teaching experience.
• Experience with SEN/SLD or complex learning needs.
• Calm, patient, nurturing approach.
• Knowledge of communication and sensory regulation.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver personalised lessons for pupils with SLD.
• Adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning and communication needs.
• Use sensory-based and practical approaches to learning.
• Support PECS, Makaton, and AAC strategies.
• Develop pupils' independence and life skills.
• Monitor progress and maintain pupil progress records.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants and wider staff team.
• Build positive relationships with pupils in a calm, safe environment.
• Engage with families and professionals to support pupil needs.
