Job summary

Aspire People in Smethwick is seeking a dedicated 121 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs in a SEND provision. You will work 1:1 to access learning, boost confidence and help the pupil thrive in class and beyond.

The role involves collaborating with teachers and SENCOs, delivering engaging activities, supporting behaviour positively, and contributing to the pupil's social development. Training and progression opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
• Understanding of supporting pupils with SEN or additional needs.
• Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills.

SEN Provision Teaching Assistant - Smethwick

Are you passionate about making a difference in children's lives? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 121 Teaching Assistants to join our Aspire Team and work in one of our schools in Smethwick. This role involves providing tailored support to a pupil on a one-to-one basis, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and thrive within the school environment in their SEND Provision.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom.


• Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities.


• Help to manage behaviour in a positive and consistent way.


• Support the pupil's social and emotional development.


• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children (ideally in a school setting).


• Understanding of supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) or additional needs.


• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.


• A positive and proactive approach to supporting learning.


• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential.
