Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (SEN) in Romford, Essex, to support pupils with diverse SEN including Autism, SLD, and communication needs.

This full-time term-time role offers daily pay £90–£115, with Monday–Friday hours 8:30am–4:00pm.

You will work 1:1 and small groups, collaborating with teachers and therapists to help pupils develop independence and communication.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs.
• Patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Experience with Autism, SLD, PMLD, or complex needs is desirable.
• Experience supporting personal care or sensory needs preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience working with children or vulnerable groups.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism, SLD, and communication needs.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the classroom.
• Assist with personalised learning activities, sensory interventions, and routines.
• Encourage communication, engagement, and emotional regulation.
• Support life skills and independence throughout the day.
• Work with teachers, therapists, and staff to deliver a holistic approach.
• Build positive relationships to help pupils feel safe and valued.
