Job summary

Academics is seeking a compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant for a full-time, term-time role at a welcoming East Sussex SEN school. Start date is September 2026, with a supportive consultant and opportunities for professional development.

You will support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties, working with teachers to deliver engaging activities and provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months' experience supporting children with SEN in a UK school.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS on Update Service.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of SEN including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs.

Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role this September?

Academics is currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive SEN school in East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with a range of additional needs while working as part of a committed and experienced team.

The Role
  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning activities.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Encourage pupils' independence, confidence and social development.
  • Help create a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 6 months' experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs within a UK school, SEN setting or similar educational environment.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, resilient and positive approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
