Job summary

Academics in the Stafford area is seeking a SEN Learning Support Assistant to support students with a range of needs in mainstream primary settings. The role involves 1:1 support and assisting the class teacher to promote inclusive teaching and learning.

The position is part-time with pay between £93 and £110 per day, depending on experience. Successful candidates will have relevant SEN experience and be fully registered with Academics, with an Enhanced DBS.

SEN Learning Support Assistant - Part-time - Start Date - 01/09/2026 - Location: Stafford

Here at Academics, we are recruiting for SEN Learning Support Assistants to support the learning of students in a variety of schools located in and around the surrounding areas of Stafford. This role is vital in supporting both the child and school, you'll be supporting children with a variety of needs including EHCP's. This role is perfect for individuals who have experience of working alongside children who have a background in Speech & Language, ADHD, SEMH and Autism.

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant you become a vital, valued member of a school environment. You will be working under the direction of the class teacher and other staff members of the school but you will be expected to work under your own initiative and skills to promote and enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all children within your care.

The Role Includes:

  • Working for a reputable education agency - Academics.
  • Working collaboratively alongside staff, parents and children - ensuring that communication is key at all points.
  • Short-term/long-term and day-to-day cover opportunities working within a variety of mainstream primary schools in and around the Stafford area.
  • Have the ability to create and foster effective relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • The ability to support and relate with students, with a wide range of bis personalities.
  • Confidence in supporting pupils with SEN needs - this will be on a more 1:1 basis.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Experience supporting a primary class, supporting with SEN (essential).
  • Obtains a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate (minimum) OR has valuable recent experience working within education settings.
  • Is a committed Teaching Assistant who feels confident in supporting children with additional needs; tailoring learning to ensure each child flourishes.
  • The ability to support SEN pupils; this will be on a 1:1 basis.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain one).
  • Available to start ASAP.
  • Able to commute to Stafford and surrounding areas on a daily basis.
  • Fully registered to work with Academics.

Pay: 93 - 110 per day, depending on experience and assignment. Holiday pay is included in the daily rate.
