Job summary

Academics are recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school in East Sussex from September 2026.

Qualifications

• 6 months' UK experience supporting children with SEN.
• Experience in a UK school, specialist provision or care setting.
• Patient, resilient and proactive approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and personalised learning.
• Support children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and complex learning difficulties.
• Encourage positive behaviour and independence.
• Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Role

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and personalised learning.
• Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and complex learning difficulties.
• Encourage positive behaviour and independence.
• Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum of 6 months' UK experience supporting children or adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• Previous experience working within a UK school, specialist provision or care setting.
• A patient, resilient and proactive approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
