Job summary

Horbury Academy is seeking to appoint a resilient, enthusiastic SEN Learning Mentor to join our supportive team. You will work closely with the Lead Learning Mentors and the SENCo to deliver targeted interventions for pupils at risk of underachievement and to remove barriers to learning.

The role provides high‑quality pastoral and practical support, including assistance with social, health and welfare needs, and supports pupils with behavioural and emotional needs in small groups and classrooms,

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of numeracy and literacy development strategies.
• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external agencies.
• Passion for inspiring and motivating young people to overcome barriers to learning.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted intervention programmes to vulnerable pupils.
• Plan and deliver SEND support and curriculum interventions for small groups.
• Provide high‑quality pastoral and practical support for pupils.
• Support behaviour and emotional needs in small groups and classrooms.
• Promote engagement, inclusion and positive learning behaviours.
