Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd is seeking a SEN Learning Mentor to support learners in a small, inclusive SEN school setting. You will work closely with teachers to tailor activities, promote wellbeing, and help pupils engage and progress.

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and personal development.
• Work closely with class teachers to support learning activities tailored to individual needs and abilities.
• Promote communication, social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and independence skills.
• Use a variety of strategies to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
• Create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where pupils feel valued and encouraged to succeed.

About the School & Expectations

• Join a specialist SEN school with a nurturing, structured, and pupil-centred approach to learning.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families, and other support staff to meet pupils' needs.
• Follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and consistently implement agreed support and behaviour strategies.
• Demonstrate patience, resilience, flexibility, and a proactive approach when supporting learners.
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.
• Contribute to an inclusive and positive school culture where every pupil is supported to thrive and achieve their goals.

About you:

To be considered for the SEN Learning Mentorposition, you will:

• Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism and sensory needs.
• Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
• Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
• Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
