Job summary

Connex Education is seeking an experienced SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in Bridgwater primary schools. You will deliver targeted 1-2-1 and small-group interventions, helping learners to improve literacy, numeracy, communication and social-emotional skills.

Working with class teachers and SEN staff, you will provide consistent, individualised support, monitor progress and adapt approaches to meet each pupil’s needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEN/additional needs.
  • Experience delivering targeted 1-2-1 or small-group interventions is desirable.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Caring, patient and empathetic approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1-2-1 and small-group interventions to support literacy, numeracy and social development.
  • Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning and build confidence.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and adapt support to individual needs.

SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant

Location: Bridgwater
Rate of Pay: £95–£115/day

About the Role

Connex Education is looking for a dedicated SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs across primary schools in Bridgwater. This is a great opportunity for an experienced SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and make positive progress.

As a SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support through 1-2-1 and small-group interventions, helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally. You will work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to provide consistent and individualised support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as an effective SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Deliver targeted 1-2-1 and small-group interventions.
  • Support literacy, numeracy, communication and wider learning needs.
  • Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and build confidence.
  • Support social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies.
Requirements

We are looking for a SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant who has:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN or additional needs.
  • Experience delivering interventions is desirable.
  • A caring, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A calm, consistent and supportive manner.
  • Flexibility, reliability and adaptability.
  • Availability to work 5 days a week.
  • A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
  • An enhanced DBS check or willingness to complete one.
  • The right to work in the UK.
