Job summary

Tor View School in Devon is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support across key stages. The school serves students with autism, trauma-related needs and learning difficulties, offering a responsive, bespoke training programme and a collaborative environment.

The role involves leading interventions, working with teachers and wellbeing teams, and modelling positive behaviour and emotional regulation to help pupils progress academically and socially.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and young people with social/emotional difficulties or challenging behaviour.
• Ability to tailor and lead support for individual students.
• Strong communication skills in speaking and writing, ICT using for tracking progress.

Responsibilities

• Lead small group or one-to-one interventions based on students' needs.
• Collaborate with education and wellbeing teams to support emotional regulation and engagement.
• Plan, deliver and assess interventions and track student progress.
• Mentor and support less experienced teaching staff as needed.
• Promote a calm, supportive learning environment and respond empathetically to students.
