Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Classroom Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs under teacher guidance. You will aid with learning activities, personal care, and inclusive participation, working as part of a team in and out of the classroom.

Role involves implementing education plans, maintaining records, and providing a safe environment while promoting independence for pupils. Training and in-service opportunities are noted within the role.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area from a recognised awarding body.
• Minimum 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or placement.
• Core knowledge: health and safety, child protection and safeguarding.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow established plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the support and care of pupils with special educational needs.
• Contribute to inclusion of pupils in mainstream settings under guidance.
• Support with personal needs including dietary, feeding, toileting where required.
• Help implement education and care plans and monitor pupil progress.
• Assist in supervising groups or individuals during activities and transport.
