Job summary

Wymeswold C of E Primary School is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work under the class teacher, supporting SEN pupils and helping all children access the curriculum. The role involves assisting individuals and small groups in class or withdrawal areas, in line with school policies.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.
  • Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake professional development.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy with children and young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities and ability to apply this to daily work and decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Support individual children in class, and work with small groups in classroom or withdrawal areas.
  • Assist SEN pupils to access the school curriculum and participate in all aspects of school life.
  • Work under the direct supervision of the class teacher.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and school procedures.
