Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a caring SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Burnley. You will provide individual support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEN, strong communication skills, a calm and patient approach, and a commitment to safeguarding. This full-time role runs 8.30am to 3.30pm, with training and ongoing professional development provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in an educational or SEN setting.
• Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, or learning needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
• Ability to adapt learning and support strategies to meet individual needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Qualifications desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist pupil to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
• Implement strategies and interventions as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.
• Support the pupil's social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and engagement.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support the pupil's individual needs.
• Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
