Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for a full-time post in the Low Bentham area to start after October half-term.

You will support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis, building trust and positive relationships. You will implement trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and engagement, work with teachers to create a safe learning environment, and help learners access their targets.

Qualifications

• Experience working with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs or within a care/support setting.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and relationship-based approaches.
• Calm, patient, and resilient under pressure.
• Able to establish clear boundaries while maintaining a nurturing approach.
• Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential for candidates with the right experience.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs 1:1 and small-group.
• Build strong, positive relationships with young people.
• Implement trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers and the wider staff team to create a safe learning environment.
• Encourage personal development, resilience, confidence and independence.
• Support pupils to access learning and achieve their targets.
