Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11 to 16 with SEMH and ASD in Stechford, Birmingham. The role involves helping with daily classroom activities, targeted interventions, and promoting a positive learning environment.

You will work closely with teachers and support staff to implement behaviour plans, encourage emotional regulation, and build social skills and confidence in learners across a specialist setting.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with SEMH, autism or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, empathetic and patient approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with SEMH/ASD in class and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support the development of social skills, confidence and independence.
