Job summary

Aspire People in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11 to 16 with SEMH and ASD. You will work in a specialist setting in Balsall Heath, providing individualised support in the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will implement behaviour support plans, help with emotional regulation, and support social skills, confidence and independence while collaborating with teaching staff to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, empathetic, patient approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with SEMH and ASD in classroom and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support development of social skills, confidence and independence.
