Job summary

Aspire People are seeking a compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant in Small Heath, Birmingham to support pupils aged 11 to 16 with SEMH, ASD and related needs. The role involves enabling inclusive learning and working closely with teachers and support staff.

You will help implement behaviour and emotional regulation strategies, support social skills, confidence and independence, and contribute to a supportive, safeguarding-focused team in a specialist setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SEMH, autism or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, empathetic approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive, flexible mindset and a genuine desire to help vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with SEMH and ASD in class and via targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and support teams to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support development of social skills, confidence and independence in young learners.
