Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary

Location: Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, Newcastle

Pay rate: £80 - £100 per day

Start date: ASAP

The Role:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting primary school students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your empathy, dedication, and skills will help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of individual students.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every student feels valued and supported.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Encourage positive behavior and help students develop essential life skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive and effective educational experience for students.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs and helping them overcome challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to understanding and addressing the diverse needs of students.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
