Job summary

The Esland Group Ltd is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our new SEN school in Ditton Priors near Bridgnorth. You will support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs across primary and secondary age ranges, helping them access a broad, balanced curriculum.

Working full time, you will collaborate with class teachers, implement trauma-informed approaches, and promote independence and resilience in learners.

Qualifications

• Appropriate knowledge of first aid.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Teamwork and clear classroom role understanding.
• Some knowledge of National Curriculum requirements.
• Effective use of ICT to support learning.
• Awareness of policies, codes of practice and legislation.
• Basic understanding of child development and learning.
• Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and seek opportunities.
• Experience working with or caring for children.

Responsibilities

• Support learners with SEMH to access the curriculum in class or small groups.
• Promote inclusive, empathetic approaches and trauma-informed practices.
• Assist teachers in managing challenging behaviour and maintaining a safe classroom.
• Contribute to the development and progress of learners across primary and secondary ages.
